BUILDING A MORE WILDFIRE-RESILIENT COMMMUNITY
Wildfire is one of the greatest challenges facing communities across the American West. As fire seasons grow longer and wildfire behavior becomes more complex, protecting the places we love requires more than emergency response—it requires year-round investment in prevention, preparedness, innovation, and community resilience.
The Aspen Wildfire Foundation brings together philanthropy, partnerships, and forward-thinking solutions to help build a safer future for the Aspen area. Working alongside the Aspen Fire Protection District and regional partners, we invest in projects that reduce wildfire risk, strengthen emergency response, and prepare our community for the challenges ahead.
Wildfire cannot be eliminated, but its impacts can be reduced. Every investment in forest health, community preparedness, firefighter resources, and emerging technology helps create a community that is better equipped to live with wildfire.
The Aspen Wildfire Foundation exists to make these investments possible—supporting projects that go above and beyond public funding.
Healthy forests, defensible space, fuels reduction, and informed homeowners all play a critical role in reducing wildfire risk. By supporting prevention projects and public education, we help communities prepare long before smoke appears on the horizon.
When wildfire threatens our community, firefighters need every possible advantage. The Foundation supports investments in specialized equipment, advanced technology, training, and enhanced response capabilities that improve safety and effectiveness. We also support AFPD in their mission to hire and retain extraordinary people.
Technology is transforming wildfire management. AWF invests in cutting-edge tools such as heavy lift fire suppression drones, artificial intelligence for early fire detection, satellite fire detection for remote and backcountry areas, and other emerging technologies that improve wildfire detection and response. Help us bring innovative solutions to our region that improve situational awareness and accelerate emergency response.
Wildfire does not recognize property boundaries. Lasting resilience depends on collaboration among fire agencies, public land managers, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and residents. The Foundation exists to strengthen those partnerships and help turn shared goals into meaningful action. Recent Partners include Wildfire Collaborative RFV and Resilience Force.
Wildfire resilience is not achieved through one project or one organization. It is built through sustained investment, collaboration, and innovation.
The Aspen Wildfire Foundation invests philanthropic resources where they can have the greatest impact—supporting initiatives that reduce wildfire risk, strengthen emergency response, improve community preparedness, and bring new technologies to the forefront of wildfire management.
Working alongside the Aspen Fire Protection District, local governments, public land managers, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and community members, we help build a safer, more resilient future.
Government funding maintains essential services. Philanthropy makes innovation possible.
Your support allows the Foundation to accelerate projects, pilot new technologies, respond to emerging opportunities, and strengthen partnerships that protect our community for generations to come. Community resilience starts with each of us.
